Every student at DigiPen is assigned a Faculty Mentor and a Student Success Advisor prior to the start of their first semester at DigiPen.

Faculty Mentors

Faculty Mentors are available to help students create educational and professional goals. Based on their extensive experience in academia or the video game and technology industries, Faculty Mentors help each student develop a deeper appreciation of their field of study as well as help students discover career options while navigating DigiPen’s academic policies and procedures.

A Faculty Mentor is assigned to incoming students prior to New Student Orientation. If students have questions before matriculation, they should contact their assigned Student Success Advisor.

Students should speak to their Faculty Mentors about:

  • Developing skills to succeed in the profession of their choice
  • Setting and achieving career goals
  • Learning more about specific degree programs and coursework

Student Success Advisors

Student Success Advisors assist students with class registration, course selection, academic success, and guidance on DigiPen’s academic policies and procedures. Students typically meet with their Student Success Advisors at least once a year as well as when applying for graduation. This ensures that the student is meeting their academic objectives and enrolling in the correct classes.

Students can seek academic advice through their Student Success Advisor as long as they maintain an “enrolled” or “matriculated” status at DigiPen. A student’s assigned Student Success Advisor can be found through the Student Portal.

Students should speak to their Student Success Advisors about:

  • Choosing classes for the coming semester
  • Academic progress
  • Setting and meeting academic goals
  • Changing degree programs
  • Preparation for graduation
  • Dealing with social or interpersonal issues

Tutoring at the Academic Support Lab

DigiPen’s Academic Support Lab offers free tutoring for students who want to improve their academic performance. Students may drop in during scheduled hours, request individual tutoring, or form groups to improve their knowledge of a variety of topics useful to all majors. Tutors are trained to enhance the understanding of core class concepts, answer questions, and assist with exam preparation.

Drop-in tutoring is available for different subjects depending on the day and time. Students who are unable to attend a drop-in tutoring session may schedule one-on-one tutoring sessions through the student portal.

See our Academic Support Lab page for more information about tutoring at our Redmond campus.
